Today, we all know that scams are very prevalent in the timeshare industry. The victims may range from potential owners to those owners who are eager to get out of their timeshares. Such scams operate in various and unsuspecting ways ready to prey on their victims. However, some organizations emerge these days to help mitigate such problem. One of these is the Resale Integrity which is a non-profit group dedicated to stopping fraudulent resale companies and is offering a free service to report resale fraud.
Timeshare resale fraud is a growing problem in the vacation industry with many companies that typically state that they have buyers waiting, or that the property is guaranteed to be sold in a short period of time. Resale Integrity is a not for profit group dedicated to eliminating such timeshare resale fraud.
Resale Integrity will report the fraud to the appropriate government authorities because the best way to stop the fraud is to have these bad actors put out of business. Reporting to the proper authorities can be cumbersome. So, they will take the burden from the consumer of reporting fraud and abuse to the proper governmental authorities and to the American Resorts Development Association. There is no fee or cost associated with this service and any personal data for any purpose will not be disclosed other than to report resale fraud to the government. Also, Resale Integrity cannot obtain a refund for the consumer. This must be obtained from the resale company or your credit card company.
Scams are one of the biggest problems of the vacation industry today. As a matter of fact, it was even recognized as the top consumer complaint these days. Most of the victims however are those owners who are eager to get rid of their timeshares – in other words, those timeshare resellers. But with the emergence of some organizations like the Resale Integrity, we hope that such problems would be mitigated.
